Sierra EV VS The Competition

GMC Sierra EV vs. the Competition

The GMC Sierra EV takes performance to the next level with groundbreaking technology and myth-busting capabilities with pure electric power. Motor City Buick GMC is thrilled to offer the newest all-electric pickup truck to Bakersfield drivers looking for a clean and exciting alternative to expensive fuel costs for their pickup trucks. If you are ready for something new and start saving, our team can help you transition to an electric truck.

Need help deciding which electric vehicle (EV) is right for you? There are a lot of options with strong competitors like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Tesla Cyber Truck, and Rivian R1T. Our team will show you why the Sierra EV should be your number one choice.

Sierra EV vs. Ford F-150 Lightning

The Ford F-150 Lightning may have been first on the scene, but the Sierra EV takes things up a notch with more power and longer range thanks to GM's Ultium battery technology. While both trucks max out the towing capacity at 10,000 pounds, the Sierra EV delivers more horsepower, up to 754, and a max range of up to 440 miles. The Ford F-150 Lightning's best range tops out at 320 miles and produces a maximum of 580 horsepower with the upgraded Extended Range battery pack.

The convenience features in the Sierra EV are also envy-worthy to F-150 Lightning owners who get a standard 12.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay© and Android Auto. Ford's system seems downright puny compared to the massive 16.8-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In, which is standard on every version of the newest Sierra EV.

Sierra EV vs. Tesla Cyber Truck

While the Sierra EV retains its traditional rugged good looks, Tesla's Cyber Truck brings a different vibe to city streets. Its shiny steel panels and sharp angles look otherworldly, but it does bring serious capabilities. Tesla's Cyber Truck boasts one of the highest towing capacities among today's electric pickup trucks, achieving a max towing capacity of up to 11,000 pounds. While that is 1,000 pounds over the Sierra EV's rating, the standard configuration is not as powerful, and the range trails behind the new Sierra EV.

Like its siblings, the Tesla Cyber Truck is sparsely designed on the inside, with only an 18.5-inch touchscreen to break up the minimalist interior. The Sierra EV offers a crew-cab configuration similar to the gas-powered Sierra 1500 and offers more familiar amenities and warmth with open-pore wood and premium leather finishes.

One thing the Cyber Truck and Sierra EV have in common is that neither supports Apple CarPlay© or Android Auto smartphone integration. The Sierra EV includes a wireless smartphone charging pad and access to apps and other Google-supported services. Most of the Cyber Trucks controls are operated through the touchscreen, which can be distracting for drivers.

Sierra EV vs. Rivian R1T

The Rivian R1T was one of the first EV pickup trucks available, and its head start has a lot to show for it. One of the fastest and most powerful EV trucks available, the Rivian R1T can launch from zero to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds - supercar speeds, thanks to a max output of 1,025 horsepower. It can also tow 1,000 more pounds than the Sierra EV. However, the Rivian R1T can't go as far as the Sierra EV on a fully charged battery. Its max range is 420 miles with the most efficient setup, but the Sierra EV has 20 miles on the Rivian R1T.

The Sierra EV also has a superior infotainment system and a user-friendly interface that works with Google-enabled apps and accounts. The Rivian R1T has a smaller touchscreen and only a handful of integrated apps. The Sierra EV also has a standard hands-free driving mode, missing from the Rivian R1T, which offers adaptive cruise control and some of the other driver assistance features you'll find standard in the Sierra EV.
