We recently took the 2025 GMC Acadia on an unforgettable road trip to Marley’s Mutts Ranch in Tehachapi, California, to witness the incredible work they do for rescue dogs. Along the way, we met Melissa Brunson, Executive Director, and her loyal companion, Stacy, to see firsthand how their efforts are transforming the lives of countless animals.
A Smooth & Tech-Enhanced Journey
The drive to Tehachapi was effortless, thanks to the Acadia’s impressive 15-inch infotainment screen. Its intuitive interface and high-definition display made navigation seamless, allowing us to focus on the adventure ahead. The ride was smooth, and the advanced technology ensured we stayed connected and entertained throughout the trip.
Making a Difference with Marley’s Mutts
At the ranch, we saw the dedicated team at Marley’s Mutts in action, working tirelessly to help homeless dogs in Kern County. One of their standout programs, Marley’s Mutt Movers, relocates rescue dogs to partner organizations where they can find their forever homes. We were honored to support this mission by providing the Mutt Mover’s Mobile, a crucial asset in assisting dogs affected by recent California wildfires.

Discovering Old Town Tehachapi
After our visit to Marley’s Mutts, we explored Old Town Tehachapi, a hidden gem reminiscent of Old Town Clovis near Fresno. This charming town boasts historic buildings, unique local shops, and welcoming small businesses.
We stopped for lunch at Red House BBQ, and it did not disappoint! If you’re ever in the area, we highly recommend checking it out. After lunch, we wandered through the town, enjoying the clean streets and well-preserved charm. One tip: Many stores and restaurants close on Wednesdays, so plan your visit accordingly.
Capturing the Acadia Denali in its Element
Before heading home, we couldn’t resist capturing some stunning footage of our Acadia Denali trim against the breathtaking Tehachapi mountain backdrop. As GMC’s top-tier trim, the Denali blends luxury, advanced features, and rugged capability, making it the ideal SUV for road trip enthusiasts.
Final Stop: Murray’s Family Farms
As the sun set, we made one last stop at Murray’s Family Farms to grab some fresh snacks before heading back to Bakersfield. One of the most impressive aspects of our trip? Despite covering significant mileage, we only used about a quarter of a tank of gas—an unexpected bonus given the Acadia’s size and performance.
